ncc day History

The NCC in India was formed by The National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. The Act was approved on July 15 on the 15th of July in 1948. National Cadet Corps can be described as the successor of the University Officers Training Corps (UOTC) that was established in 1942 by the British at the time of 1942. British during 1942. In the years following World War II, the UOTC did not meet the standards established by the British. The result was that better plans needed to be created, that could aid more kids in a more efficient manner and even during peace time. A committee headed by Pandit H.N. Kunzru proposed a cadet organization to be formed within colleges and schools on a larger scale. In 1948 the National Cadet Corps Act was approved by the Governor General and on the 15th of July, 1948, The National Cadet Corps came into existence.

In the wars of 1965 and 1971 between the United States and Pakistan, NCC cadets were the second defence. They organized camps to aid the factories that manufactured ordinance and supplied ammunition and arms at the front. They they also formed patrol groups to eliminate enemy paratroopers. The NCC Cadets also cooperated together with Civil Defence authorities and actively engaged in rescue operations as well as traffic management. After the 1965 and the 1971 Indo-Pak wars , the NCC syllabus was updated. Instead of being merely the second line of defence NCC syllabus placed more emphasis on the formation of leadership and officer-like traits. The training related to military that NCC pupils received were reduced and more importance was placed on other areas , such as social service and youth-management.
